YOGA Classes At Suryalila Yoga Retreat
Our Yoga Philosophy
Yoga is the beating heart of Suryalila. For us, it is far more than a physical practice, it is a way of living. A philosophy that connects mind, body and spirit, creating positive ripple effects that extend far beyond the mat.
We believe our natural state is one of happiness. When we nurture a holistic yogic lifestyle, we begin to embody our true joyful essence and remember who we truly are. Yoga gently invites us to live with an open heart, rooted in compassion, kindness, gratitude and love. It reminds us that we are whole, complete and limitless exactly as we are.
Within our thoughtfully curated 90 minute classes, our teachers embody this nurturing spirit, creating a safe and supportive space where you can relax, replenish and reconnect with yourself.
Our Yoga Classes
Energising morning classes
Vinyasa Flow & Hatha Yoga
Daily, 8:00 to 9:30am
Our morning classes are rooted in the dynamic Vinyasa Flow style created by Suryalila founder and master teacher Vidya Heisel, inspired by Eastern Yoga Philosophy and taught worldwide through Frog Lotus Yoga International. Many of our teachers are trained in this method, forming the foundation of our daily practice, while our wider schedule also includes a range of Hatha Yoga inspired classes that offer a complementary approach to movement, breath, and meditation.
Morning classes begin with grounding pranayama and a nourishing warm up, gradually building into a creative standing sequence with optional inversions, before cooling down into a deeply relaxing shavasana. Expect thoughtful sequencing, touches of poetry and music, and a focused yet joyful atmosphere.
Suitable for all levels, ages and abilities, the emphasis is always on listening to your body. Modifications and props are encouraged so you can practice in a way that feels supportive and empowering, the perfect start to your day.
Rest & restore afternoon classes
Yin & Restorative
Daily, 5:30 – 6:30pm
Melt into the mat with our deeply nourishing afternoon sessions, designed to help you slow down, soften and restore. Drawing from Yin and Restorative Yoga, these classes invite you into longer held postures to gently activate the parasympathetic nervous system and guide the body into rest and digest mode.
Yin Yoga works with deep, mindful stretches that target connective tissues, joints and fascia, helping to improve flexibility and release stagnant energy. Restorative Yoga focuses on complete support through props such as bolsters, blankets and blocks, allowing the body and mind to fully unwind and reset.
Both styles cultivate inner awareness and offer a powerful antidote to busy modern life. Our teachers often add nurturing touches such as gentle massage, live music, chanting, singing bowls, aromatherapy or breathwork, creating a soothing and healing atmosphere to close the day.
