ABOUT THE CAMP

Breathing Space is a one-week immersive camp held at the beautiful Suryalila Retreat Centre in Andalusia. Created for teenage girls aged 16 to 19, the camp offers a holistic program blending yoga, meditation, expressive arts, and nature adventures with tools for emotional wellbeing such as Non-Violent Communication and mindful reflection.

Phones are limited to one hour per day, encouraging authentic connection, presence, and creativity. With a maximum of 12 participants, each girl will be held in a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment guided by experienced mentors Vidya Heisel, Sakshi Dominguez, and Frida Hernandez.

This is a unique opportunity to step into a nurturing community, develop healthy habits, and explore a deeper sense of self.

Activities & Daily Flow

At Breathing Space, we aim for a gentle balance between turning inward for reflection and opening outward to connect and have fun together. Each day combines practices for wellbeing with creative and playful group experiences.

Participants will enjoy:

  • Sharing circles & guided reflection for confidence and self-expression

  • Hikes in nature to reconnect with the outdoors

  • Healthy cooking & nutrition classes for practical self-care

  • Non-Violent Communication workshops to build strong, respectful relationships

  • Singing, dancing & creative arts to explore joy and creativity

  • Karma Yoga (mindful service) to foster presence and responsibility

This variety ensures that the camp feels both enriching and fun—helping girls form lasting friendships while exploring tools that support their wellbeing for years to come.

Guided by Experienced Mentors

The camp will be lovingly guided by Vidya Heisel, founder of Suryalila Retreat Centre, bringing her incredible wisdom from almost 50 years of teaching and learning, together with Sakshi Dominguez, yoga teacher and member of the Suryalila management team, and her daughter Frida Hernández, who at 20 years old can easily relate to the teenage participants.

Together, they create a nurturing and safe environment where each participant feels seen, supported, and inspired to grow, both individually and as part of the group.
